Following the completion of a financial literacy course, 5th grade EXCEL students from New Albany Elementary School experienced a day-long visit to a simulated town at Junior Achievement of Memphis & the Mid South’s JA BizTown where they performed jobs they applied for. They operated the town bank, managed a business, ran a media outlet, took out a business loan and worked to pay it back. They experienced being a consumer and a service provider. Students were able to connect the dots between what they learned in the classroom and the real world.
